Who takes computer? 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.
When and how long do students have computer? 6th grade students have computer all year long, every-other-day. We are the opposite class of Physical Education. Students have computer class every year they are in middle school. 7th and 8th grade students have computer class 3 out of their 4 quarters (opposite PE and Tech Skills).
Do students need to have used a computer before? Students do not need to have any prior knowledge on the computer from this class, nor do they need to have a computer at home.
What kind of program are students learning? Students are learning on Microsoft Office 2010. Students are also using Google Docs on the Chromebooks. Students will also be doing some coding.
What do students work on? They will learn everything from keyboarding skills, layering skills, to script-writing for documentaries and commercials, to powerpoint presentations and movie maker. It is really amazing at how much students learn in such a short amount of time.
Do students use computer in other classes? Students will use their computer skills in the majority of their classes.
Will my child(ren) be behind if we do not have a computer at home? No! Some assignments do not even require the computer ~ rather their notes. If the computer is required, students are given class time to complete the assignment. They need to use their time very wisely - if they do not use their time wisely, they may not get done. The lab is also open in the morning before school and after school. There are also computers in the media center for the students to use.
Late Work Policy: * If you do not have work turned in by the designated deadline, you will need to email your C3PO email group *You may still earn credit on assignments that are turned in "Late" *You may earn up to 80% credit if you turn in the late assignment by the next class day *You may earn up to 65% credit if you turn in the late assignment within one week *You will earn 0% credit if you do not have the assignment turned in within that one week from the due date *For large projects, students lose 10% credit every day. After 1 week, it will be a zero.
